Dr. Melissa Kerns Bio

Dr. Melissa Kerns is originally from Charlotte, NC. She attended Belmont Abbey College where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with her Bachelor’s degree in Biology. She went on to pursue her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine at the North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine in Raleigh, and completed an internship in Charlotte.

Dr. Kerns chose to pursue veterinary medicine because she is amazed at the impact animals can have on individuals and families. She believes that people can learn so much from pets, such as how to live in the moment and how to forgive and love unconditionally. She is honored to care for them in return!

Dr. Kerns is a member of the national and state Veterinary Medical Associations, and she is USDA accredited. Her professional interests include senior care, wellness care and educating pet owners on proper pet care to support the human/animal bond. Dr. Kerns is active in her church, enjoys singing, knitting, quilting/sewing, reading, and spending time with her husband, Alan, their three adult daughters, and son-in-law. They share their home with a handsome cat named Rupert and a very large South African Boerboel Mastiff named Clifford.–
